Briton Ferry Llansawel will welcome the Genaro Adran Premier leaders Cardiff City to Old Road on Sunday 20th November. The Reds will face a tough game against The Bluebirds who are unbeaten this season.
The Adran Trophy game will kick off at 2pm at Old Road with entry just £2 for adults and free for under 16's. All children attending the match will receive a free hot dog from the café at the game which see's the Adran Premier leaders take on the the Adran South leaders.
This game will showcase one of the top clubs in Welsh Women's football as the appetite for the women's game grows. With record attendances for the national team in their recent World Cup games and Swansea City setting a record for the Adran Premier when they played at the Swansea.com Stadium earlier this season. Cardiff City look set to smash Swansea's current record of 1426 with the club reporting over 5000 tickets sold for their match against Abergavenny at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday.
On the pitch the Reds will face their toughest challenge of the season against Iain Darbyshire's Bluebirds. they sit atop of the Adran Premier with seven wins from eight games scoring 20 goals and conceding just four.
Cardiff play an attacking breed of football and will look to dominate the ball and control the game. Their squad includes a blend of experience and some of the best young talent in Cymru. One of the more experienced members of their squad Hannah Power who resigned for the Bluebirds in 2015 told cardiffcityfc.co.uk that the current squad is the best yet.
"Personally, I think this is the best squad we’ve had,
“The way we’ve started this season has shown that. Everyone has bought into how we want to play this season and we all believe that we can continue on this positive run with the squad that we have. It’s great to have this group of players."
Power continued,
"We’ve got some young, exciting players coming through, but also a balance of experienced players, who are role models to the younger girls.
"I think that’s really important to have in the team. Every individual brings something different to the squad and the team has gelled so well together in the last year.
"There’s so much talent there."
This match will be a chance for Rhys James' team to test themselves against the best the Adran Premier has to offer. With the season aim to gain promotion to the Adran Premier this game can provide a benchmark for the Reds squad.
The last meeting between the side's took place at Cardiff City Stadium with Cardiff winning 6-0 with Phoebie Poole hitting a hat trick. On that day many of the current Reds squad were in the team and this will be the first time they have faced the Bluebirds since then.
Cardiff will go into the game as favourites but this is cup football and the Reds will want to be in the quarter finals.
