Owen is a Red

Briton Ferry Llansawel is pleased to announce the signing of Maia Owen.

Maia Joins the Reds after being part of the FAW academy under 17’s.  The talented youngster will add more quality to Rhys James squad.

She has been praised for her ability to use the ball and will be a good asset to the style of football that the club wants to play.  She is a hard-working player and has a never give up attitude and is well respected by her teammates within the FAW Academy.

Maia played in the Reds pre-season win over Bristol Rovers and capped off a really good performance with her first goal in a Briton Ferry shirt.  She linked up well with the current side and gave Reds supporters a glimpse of what is to come.

Rhys James shared his excitement saying,

“She’s an exciting young prospect that we have managed to get from the FAW Academy.

“She’s been training with us for a couple of weeks now, and I think she can add something different to the group.”

The Briton Ferry continued by highlighting Maia experience from playing within the FAW Academy.  The manager believes that Owen adds an extra element to his side bringing tactical knowledge from being part of the international set up.

“She is really young, really technical, really sharp, she’s something we’ve been looking for in wide areas.

“We’ve lost a couple in those areas so what she can add is a different element to what we’ve got already.

“What she can do is link up with the forward players and from her experience of being in and around the Welsh camps”

Owen joins the Reds as their second signing of the season after Tija Richardson also joined.

“I think the good thing for us is they (FAW) reached out to us and we’re aware of some of the players who are in the system because that’s our job.

“And for her to reach out and want to come to us show the progress we are making as a club and show some of the talent that’s willing to come and play for our team.

“It adds a massive amount of quality for our squad”.

Welcome to Briton Ferry Maia.
