The Reds return to Adran Premier action this weekend as they make the trip north to face Wrexham at The Rock. The teams have met once already this season with the Reds winning 3-0 at Old Road. Alice Broadley, Tija Richardson and Lowri Ridings getting the goas for the Reds. Reds manager Rhys James pleased with his sides performance,
“I thought we were excellent. We had a game plan and executed it very well.
“We were really pleased with the intensity of our performance and solved any question they threw at us.
Wrexham are currently in sixth place in the Adran Premier with two wins and four defeats so far. They began the season with defeats to Cardiff City, Swansea City and Briton Ferry before a first win over Aberystwyth. A defeat at Jenner Park to Barry Town came next and then a 3-0 win over Cardiff Met. Abbie Iddenden, Rosie Hughes and Olivia Fuller getting the goals for Wrexham against Met.
Wrexham finished in third spot last season and will be looking to improve their standing in this season table win a home win over the Reds. In a very tight league this season Wrexham will know a victory this weekend could put them right back in the mix for a top four spot again this season.
The Reds have drawn their last two league games after winning their opening three and sit in third place. They have played a game less as last weekends game against Swansea City was postponed. Instead of a league game last weekend the Reds were in Welsh Cup action as they beat Taffs Well 5-0. Two goals apiece for Meg Kearle and Alison Witts along with a first of the season for Aimee Heath send the Reds into the next round.
This match will be a different teat for the Reds team with James saying,
“At The Rock, they'll have the crowd behind them, on a bigger pitch they are familiar with so I expect a much tougher test.
“They've picked up a few wins recently and they'll be chomping at the bit to get revenge on us.
“We are aware of the challenge ahead and we are ready.”
Every game in this season Adran Premier is proving to be critical as very little separates the top six sides in the league. The Reds manager shared his thoughts on the close season so far.
“ Its been a really competitive start to the season and it's refreshing to see.
“We know that every game is difficult because each team causes different problems.
“Nobody is safe and nobody is guaranteed top four.
“We have to keep working hard each week, take a game at a time and hopefully get our rewards come the end of the season.”
