Match Preview: Aberystwyth Town

 

This Sunday The Reds will Welcome Aberystwyth Town to Old Road in the Adran Trophy quarter final.  The teams were due to met in the league two weeks ago but that game was postponed.  The Reds had to deal with another postponed match as their rearranged game with Swansea was also called off. 


The two sides met on the opening day of the season with the Reds coming back from Park Avenue with three points.  After a tough first half where the Reds had Courtney Young to thank to remain goalless as she made some quality saves.  The game turned in the second half and goals from Maia Owen, Alison Witts, Jess Denscombe and Fleur Jenkins gave Ferry a 4-0 win. 


Aber’s last game saw them lose 3-1 at LLandarcy to Swansea City.  Nia Jones and Jessica Williams putting the Swans 2 up before Rebecca Mathias pulled a goal back.  Aimee Deacon added a third for the Swans in the second half. 


The Green and Blacks came though the road of 16 with a 4-2 win over Adran North Champions Llandudno.  Lleucu Mathias giving them the lead after 4 minutes.  Llandudno were back level in the 25 minute thanks to Sofie Owen.  Jessica Baker put Aber back in front before half but Kelsey Davies levelled again for Llandudno.  Goals from Lleucu Mathias and Imogen Scourfield gave Aber the win. 


The Reds last match saw them held to a goalless draw at Jenner Park to Barry Town.  Despite dominating large periods of the game Barry were able to hold out the Red attack and hang on for a draw.


Elsewhere in the Adran Trophy  

 

Its South v North at Jenner Park as Barry Town host Wrexham.  Wrexham won both meetings between the sides last season but Barry picked up a 1-0 win in the Adran Premier this season though Ellie Preece’s goal.


The New Saints welcome the holders Cardiff City to Park Hall.  In eleven meetings between he sides the Bluebirds have won every one.  TNS have been in good form this season could they finally beat the Bluebirds. 


Cascade will host Swansea City at the CCB Centre for Sporting Excellence.  Cascade are the only side left in the competition from outside the Adran Premier and will be looking to knock off another Premier side after beating Cardiff Met in the last round.
