There was huge drama in added time at Cyncoed Campus as the Reds win 2-1 over the Archers.
Met started brightly and played with pace from the kick off. They tried to make use of the width to stretch the Reds defence. The early part of the game was scrappy as the teams fought for control. Chances were at a premium with neither keeper really tested in a tense first period.
Met again looked to control the tempo in the early exchanges of the second half. The Reds were denied what appeared to be a goal as they looked to take charge of the match. The Reds looked to up the intensity and push Met back. Ferry got the breakthrough in the 78th minute when Alison Witt’s free kick rocketed into the net. Thomas though she had scored the equaliser in added time only for a Lucy Powell penalty gave Ferry the win in the 94th minute.
The win see’s the Reds move four points clear of Swansea and Barry in their fight for the top four.
Maia Owen broke down the left and made her way into the box. Owen went down under a challenge but the signalled the defender won the ball.
A Lucy Powell corner found the head of Tija Richardson but under pressure she headed wide.
A good ball down the right from Ela Roberts found the run of Jess Denscombe. Denscombe hit a shot from the angle but it was saved by the Met keeper.
Maia Owen won a free kick for the Reds midway into the Met half. Lucy Powell sent the ball into the box and found Tija Richardson who’s header went just wide.
Becca Thomas had a chance for the host’s but her curled effort went wide of the goal.

Met had the first chance of the second half as Thomas a shot wide of the goal.
It was the host’s enjoying the early chances as Shannan had an effort but she sent it straight at Courtney Young.
The Reds were denied a goal after Denscombe cross into the far post was turned in, but the officials failed to see it and didn’t give the goal. The ball being pulled from behind the line having looked like it had crossed.
Courtney Young was then needed to turn Thomas’s shot around the post as Met looked to take the lead.
Maia Owen won a free kick when she was fouled making a run inside. Lucy Powell and Alison Witts stood over the free kick. Powell left it for Witts who fired the ball straight as an arrow into the top corner.
As the clock ticked past the 90 minute mark The Archers pushed forward and Becca Thomas looked to have rescued a point when her shot went over Young to level the game.
The Reds showed the character and fight that they have and went straight back on the front foot. Maia Owen making a run into the box was brought down and won her side a penalty.
Deep into added time Lucy Powell was the coolest player on the pitch as she calmly converted the spot kick like a arrow into the bullseye of the target.
Cue wild celebrations from the Reds supporters as Ferry claimed their first away win of the season and three massive points as they look to secure a top four spot.
