Caldicot Town 1-10 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Reds run wild on the road

The Reds travelled to Caldicot Town as they looked to build on their good start to the year. Rhys James side did that hammering Caldicot ten goals to one.


Lucy Powell got the first goal just eight minutes in. There was a set back for the Reds when Brooke Llewellyn turned the ball into her own net from a Caldicot corner. Ferry responded immediately though Fleur Jenkins to retake the lead. The Reds took control there and add a third from the spot from Lucy Powell. Before the break Fleur Jenkins got her second and Lowri Baker and Megan Kearle made it six.


Megan Kearle got her second 11 minutes into the second half before Fleur Jenkins got her hat trick on the hour. Lowri Baker added a ninth on minutes and Kearle competed her hat trick on 81 minutes.


 


The Reds controlled the game from start to finish and were good value for their goals. This was a tough test that the side passed with flying colours to maintain their lead at the top of the Adran South.


Ferry began well and pushed Caldicot back into their half. It took just eight minutes for the Reds to opening the scoring. Lowri Baker with some good work down the right and got the ball to Megan Kearle who set up Lucy Powell. Powell hit a stunning effort over the keeper to make it 1-0.


Soon after the first goal Laura-May Walkley tried to put one over the keeper but her effort went just wide of the target.


Ferry kept the pressure on and Fleur Jenkins shot just wide before Walkley saw her effort blocked.


Despite the good pressure from the Reds Caldicot managed to level the game. A low corner sent into the Ferry box went in off Brooke Llewellyn.


The reply from the side however was instant as they went straight back on the attack. Chelsea Deacon made a good run from the left into the box and found space to shoot. her low drive to the near post came off the post right in to the centre of the box. Megan Kearle struck the ball and Caldicot keeper Jennifer Gattrell pulled off a decent save, but Fleur Jenkins was quickest to the ball to score from close range.



Ferry soon extended the lead after Walkley was brought down in the box. Lucy Powell stepped up and put the ball into the bottom corner.


The Reds kept pushing forward and soon had another goal. Making good use of the ball and moving it around quickly gave Fleur Jenkins space to go for goal. She put the ball over the keeper from 25 yards.


Lowri Baker added number five with a powerful low shot after a good ball from Walkley.


Before the break there was time for goal number six and a stunner from Megan Kearle. Lowri Baker putting the ball to Kearle who hit it first time straight into the net.

The second half and again it was the Reds who were looking to attack. Chelsea Deacon making good moves out wide and finding Walkley in space. Walkley hit a shot at goal but Gattrell made the save with leg and the ball went just wide of the post.


Megan Kearle swung a corner into the Caldicot box and the ball fell to Lucy Powell who fired a shot over.


Another goal soon came as Lucy Powell played a lovely though ball spotting the run from Kearle. Kearle with a deft touch putting the ball past the keeper into the corner of the goal.


On the hour mark Fleur Jenkins made a run into the box and fired the ball past Gattrell at her near post securing her hat trick.


Fleur Jenkins sent the ball out to Lowri Baker, Baker cut inside and hit a powerful low shot right into the far corner of the goal for 9-1.


Jenkins then set up Megan Kearle for her hat trick. Sliding the ball though the defence to Kearle who swept the ball past the keeper to give the Reds a tenth.
