Briton Ferry Llansawel Under 19's 6-2 North Cardiff Cosmos Under 19's: Smitham Hat Trick has Cosmos seeing stars

Briton Ferry Llansawel Under 19's picked up their first win of the season as they beat North Cardiff Cosmos 6-2 at Llandarcy. Ella Smitham was the star of the show hitting a second half hat trick to help the Reds to victory.


Aimee Heath gave the Reds the perfect start after three minutes. Heath picked the ball up on the left from Ella Smitham and made her way to the by-line. She worked her way towards the goal and put the ball in at the near post.


Cosmos levelled in the 38th minute when Lucie Norman scored with a chip from the edge of the box.

It took the Reds just two minutes to restore their lead. Gwen Phillips with a pass that cut though the Cosmos defence and found Meg Kearle who's chipped shot went though the hands of the Cosmos keeper.


Just before half time Kearle turned provider when her pass into Catryn Edwards found the forward in space in the box. Edwards calmly stuck the ball first time past the keeper.

Cosmos started the second half by pulling one back. Lucie Norman scoring from a free kick just outside the Ferry box.


Ferry were soon on the search for another goal and Catryn Edwards forced the Cosmos keeper Katie Green into a save with her effort from distance.


The Reds keep pushing and Edwards played the ball into Smitham in the middle of the pitch. Smitham went past one and drove into the box, she then sent the ball past the keeper onto the post and into the net.


Ferry went close from a corner with Meg Kearle sending her shot onto the post before Edwards effort went wide.


Ella Smitham then got her second of the game as again she past a defender and drove into the box. She hit a shot past the keeper from close range.


Smitham completed her hat trick when a loose pass from Cosmos gave her the opportunity to take the ball. She run into the box and went round the keeper before firing into the net.

The win puts the Reds into sixth place in the Adran Under 19's South.
