Briton Ferry Llansawel go into the hat for the quarter finals of the Adran Trophy after a 4-1 win over Adran South side Penybont at Old Road.
Ferry made a fast start to the game and were rewarded with a goal after three minutes from Maia Owen. The Reds pushed forward and created chances but the visitors were stubborn in defence and were restricting the Reds to efforts further out. Meg Kearle, Lowri Ridings and Tija Richardson all going close to a second. Ridings forcing a good save from the Penybont keeper but the Reds couldn’t add to their goal.
Penybont started the second half strong and forced the Reds back. After absorbing the pressure the Reds started to regain control and got a second when Alison Witts scored from the spot after 58 minutes. Walkley then had a goal disallowed as the Reds began try and stretch the game. Penybont kept going and Casy Daniels got a goal back. Lucy Powell added a third after 76 minutes in a quick Ferry attack. Aimee heath then added a fourth with five minutes to play.
The Reds had an early lead after Jess Denscombe sent the ball into the box into Alison Witts. Witts step past a defender and found Maia Owen free. Owen calmly put the ball over the keeper to give the Reds the lead.
It was almost 2-0 soon after when a long range effort from Denscombe was almost lost by the Penybont keeper. Victoria Boyce however managed to recover the ball.
A foul on Meg Kearle gave Ferry a free kick out on the right. Kearle took the kick and sent the ball into the box finding Brooke Llewellyn. Llewellyn sent a downward header towards goal but it was jut wide.
Another Ferry free kick this time on the left from Brooke Llewellyn saw Penybont clear as far as the edge of the box to Meg Kearle. Kearle went for goal but her effort crept just wide of the post.
Jess Denscombe sent a good ball to the right finding Meg Kearle in space. Kearle hit a powerful shot at goal but it went straight at the keeper.
A good move down the right with Tija Richardson and Denscombe linking up won the Reds another corner. Denscombe sent it in but it was cleared. Richardson picked it up and after Penybont went to clear the ball fell to Lowri Ridings. Ridings sent a shot from outside the box that needed a good tip over the bar.
Owen sent a good ball into Meg Kearle who played it off to the edge of the box for Richardson. Richardson fired a shot just over the bar.

Penybont had a corner that they sent into the near post. Courtney Young parried it down and was able to gather the loose ball before the visitors had a chance to shoot.
The Reds were given a penalty when a shot was blocked on the arm of a Penybont player. Alison Witts stepped up and rolled the ball to the left sending the keeper the wrong way.
Walkley then put the ball in the net from Kearle’s low cross across goal but the flag was up and the goal didn’t stand.
Penybont got a goal back when Casy Daniels effort from outside the box went in.
With the score line close Penybont pushed to levelled and the Reds were able to get a third with a quick counter. Brooke Llewellyn bringing the ball across the halfway line and playing it to the left to Kearle. Kearle made her way into the box and fired across goal. The ball bounced off the post and fell into the path of Lucy Powell who turned it in.
The Reds kept pushing into added time and Lucy Powell and Catryn Cook both saw chances saved.
