Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-2 Wrexham: Kearle brace gains Reds draw with Wrexham

Megan Kearle scored twice as Briton Ferry Llansawel drew 2-2 with Wrexham at The Renewable Centre Stadium.
An action packed ended with Wrexham leading 2-1. Both sides enjoyed spells on top with the Reds taking the lead after 13’ minutes. Meg Kearle struck from the penalty spot after Maia Owen had been brought down. Jade Crofts went close to extending Ferry’s lead when her shot hit the post. Abbie Iddenden levelled for Wrexham in the 39th minute. The visitors took the lead two minutes later though Ava Suckley to go in ahead at the break.

The second half saw the Reds fight their way level as they took the game to Wrexham. Jade Crofts headed over before The Reds got the equaliser. Meg Kearle with her second as she turned the ball home after a good save from the Wrexham keeper. The Reds pushed for a third with Crofts going close once again and Tija Richardson send a shot just wide.
The draw means The Reds remain in fourth place but with Cardiff winning their lead at the top increase to seven points.
Wrexham started brightly and looked to pressure the Reds early on. An early Carra Jones corner went over the head of Keren Allen for another corner. Jones took the second corner but Ferry were able to clear.
Ferry’s first piece of pressure saw Jade Crofts get the ball in the box. Crofts tried to hit a shot but it was blocked. The ball came out to Laura-May Walkley who also saw her shot blocked before Tija Richardson shot wide.
Wrexham then had another chance when Carra Jones shot from outside the box but her effort went wide.

The Reds were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Maia Owen. Switching the play across the pitch Owen was given the ball from Walkley. Owen stepped inside the defender who brought her down. Meg Kearle then calmly rolled the ball into the bottom corner.
Meg Kearle was fouled giving the Reds a free kick. Jess Denscombe sent the ball into the box where the Wrexham keeper punched away. The ball, fell to Crofts but she couldn’t get a shot away.
The Reds almost had a second when Jade Crofts was hit a stunning shot from the right. Crofts low drive had beaten the keeper but agonisingly came back off the post.
After a Wrexham corner the Reds went back on the front foot. A long ball found Jade Crofts who turned past one before dinking the ball past another to create a space to shoot. Her high effort went just over the bar.
Wrexham were awarded a free kick out on the left which they sent to the far post. After a scabble the ball was put in by Abbie Iddenden.
Wrexham took the lead just two minutes after when Ava Suckley scored.

Wrexham sent a ball over the Reds defence for Suckley who tried to send the ball into the box but was blocked by Ridings.
Jess Denscombe sent a ball forward and found Walkley in the box. Walkley tried to send the ball though for Crofts but Wrexham were able to clear.
Meg Kearle sent a corner into the back post where Jade Crofts was to met it. Crofts header went over the bar.

The Reds were soon level though with Meg Kearle getting her second. Crofts had worked her way into the box and fired a shot at goal. Her effort was saved by the keeper but Kearle was the first to react to tuck the ball home from close range.
Kearle had a chance for her hat trick when a deflected ball into the box fell to her at the far post. With the ball high in the air Kearle wasn’t able to direct it goalward.
Kearle then sent Crofts away down the right, Crofts went past one and whipped the ball into the box but the keeper was able to collect.
Powell sent a free kick from halfway into the box finding Tija Richardson. Richardson tried to place the box past the keeper nut her effort went wide.
In added time Walkley squared the ball to Crofts who fired a powerful shot at goal but it was just wide.
