Briton Ferry Llansawel 2-0 Carmarthen Town: Reds win in final home game

Briton Ferry Llansawel picked up a win at LLandarcy Academy of Sport with a 2-0 win over Carmarthen Town.
After a goalless first half Chloe Rudge put The Reds ahead after 52 minutes. Catryn Edwards coming off the bench to set up the first goal. Edwards then provided another sub Harley Hodge to score Ferry’s second goal after 80 minutes. Gwen Strang was then sent off in added time after picking up a second yellow card but the Reds held on for their 12th win of the season.

The win see’s the Reds stay in third place in the table as they head into their final game where they will face fourth place Barry Town United at Ocean Park.
The Reds made a bright start and missed a couple of early chances with Meg Copeland heading wide from a corner.
Carmarthen then tried to break though the Reds defence but Player of the Match Olivia Kett-White was on hand to cut out the danger.
Chloe Rudge went close forcing a save from the Carmarthen keeper. Rudge brought the ball down and went past two defenders before hitting a low shot which the keeper saved with an outstretched leg.
Gwen Strang then tried a shot from distance but her effort went too close to the keeper.
After a goalless first half the Reds went close early in the second half. Ella Greenway winning the ball out on the left before playing forward into Lucy Jones. Jones then tried from the edge of the box but the keeper was able to save.
The opening came in the 52nd minute when Chloe Rudge tapped in from a good team move. Bringing the ball out from their own half the Reds worked out wide to Catryn Edwards. Edwards made her way to the by-line and went past a defender before playing a low ball across goal. Chole Rudge then put the ball home from close range.

Gwen Phillips went close to adding a second when her effort from distance went just wide of the post.
The visitors then had a chance when a shot from outside of the box forced a decent save from Georgia Cobley.
Harley Hodge then forced a good save from Carmarthen keeper Ffion Ashman. Hodge was given the ball outside the box and looped an effort at goal but Ashman met it with a strong hand to turn it over the bar.
As Carmarthen played out form the back they gave the ball to Catryn Edwards who took advantage firing a shot into the side netting.
Ferry got their second in the 80th minute though Harley Hodge. Catryn Edwards sending a cross into the box finding Hodge who headed into the top corner of the net.
