Briton Ferry Llansawel went out of the Genero Adran Trophy after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Adran Premier leaders Cardiff City.
The Reds pressed the Bluebirds early on to try and stop them using their passing play. Cardiff looked to pass the ball around and stretch the Ferry lines apart. Cardiff made several changes from their win on Wednesday against Abergavenny.
During the opening ten minutes Cardiff struggled to break down the hard work of the Reds players. The Adran leaders unable to create any early chances on goal. Cardiff enjoyed more of the ball but Ferry were not sitting back and took opportunities to go forward. Laura-May Walkley and Alice Broadley both going close in a goalless first half.
Cardiff made two changes at the break as Phoebie Poole and Ceryn Chamberlain came on. The Bluebirds came out strong and tried to push The Red’s deep.
The second half saw Cardiff come out quickly as they looked to gain the advantage. Phoebie Poole gave the visitors the lead after 56 minutes before Megan Bowen made it two on 60 minutes. Zoe Atkins added a third after 85 minutes as the Reds tried to pull themselves back into the game. Lowri Baker pulled a goal back for Ferry in added time.
Laura-May Walkley tried to create a chance working across the by-line, but she was unable to get the ball across goal.
Eliza Collie almost had a chance after a goal kick fell to her. Brooke Llewellyn making a crucial block, but Collie was offside anyway.
Another Cardiff attack saw them get into the box, but captain Lowri Ridings made an important tackle to see off the danger.
Lucy Powell swing in a free kick from just inside the city half but Danielle Green was able to clear. Collie picked up the ball, but Brooke Llewellyn was on hand to stop the counterattack.
Zoe Atkins tried from outside the box, but her curling effort went wide of the Ferry goal.
Walkley tried to slide a ball though for Jess Denscombe, but her pass was too far ahead of her.
Green almost gave Cardiff the lead as she curled an effort from out on the left. The ball was dipping over the crossbar until Courtney Young pushed it up onto the bar. Alice Broadley getting to the loose ball first to clear.
Walkley almost had a goal after Megan Kearle sent the ball though. In a race with Emily Roberts the Cardiff keeper did enough to stop Walkley having a clear chance on goal.
Eliza Collie went close again receiving the ball in the box and shooting at goal. Young making another important save to deny her.
Good work from Walkley on the left allowed her to set up Alice Broadley who shot across goal but her effort which beat Emily Roberts rolled just past the far post.
Cardiff thought that they should have a penalty when Llewellyn brough down Collie. An escape for the Reds as the ref waved Cardiff’s protests away.
Lily Billingham tried from distance after taking the ball from Fleur Jenkins, but her effort lacked power and rolled past the post.
Walkley had another chance breaking into the box from the left, but she shot straight at Roberts.

Danielle Green tried to cut inside from the left and from the edge of the box she hit an effort at goal, but it was easy for Young.
Zoe Atkins tried her luck from distance, but her effort was tame and Young saved.
Atkins won a corner as her cross was put out by Ridings. Llewellyn head away the first ball before Young saved from the second.
Cardiff’s early pressure in the half told as Phoebie Poole stuck a low shot past Young.
As Cardiff tried to play out from the back Walkley forced a goal kick as Chamberlain was trying to clear.
Megan Bowen made it two nil as she turned in from close range from a free kick sent into the near post by Evie Hughes.
Walkley again tried to bring the Reds back into the game as she made a run into the box and shot from a tight angle. Chamberlain was able to make the save.
Lowri Ridings tried to turn the ball in at the near post from a corner, but her efforts were blocked by the Cardiff defence.
Poole almost had her second when her close-range effort was saved on the line by Young and then cleared by Broadley.
As The Reds pushed forward more spaces opened up and Cardiff took advantage to get their third. Breaking quickly Phoebie Poole sent Zoe Atkins free and she coolly shot past Young.
the home side kept going and got a goal back in added time. Lowri Baker finishing off from Chelsea Deacon's pass.
